KIRK RICHARD SMITH

I'm most interested in capturing a genuine moment of expression that provokes a viewer to be involved with an image.

Kirk Richard Smith is an Granville, Ohio based photographer who documents artistic performance and human experiences. He is an award-winning creative director at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at the University of Notre Dame. In 2015 his photography shot in McAllen, Texas was featured on the ABC News 20/20 special “Pope Francis & The People” .

He formed Naissance, Inc. with partner Emily Hughes Smith in 2006, where he is currently creative director, specializing in brand development and design solutions for retail, entertainment and food clientele. Naissance, Inc. partnered with Martin Kastner of Crucial Detail to design the Alinea book and the packaging for “The Porthole” infuser.

From 1991-2004 Smith was owner and creative director of Firehouse 101 Art + Design. Firehouse 101 Art + Design is internationally recognized with over 200 awards of excellence for design and illustration. Clientele included Sony Music, Arista Records, Nickelodeon, MTV Latino, Doubleday, Penguin, Levi Strauss & Co., Express, Magnanni, Victoria’s Secret, Virgin Records and others.

His fine art is part of the permanent collection at the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University.
